The Hilaal for Safar was not sighted in South Africa this evening.

I saw the crescent on Saturday, 13th April, 2002. It was first seen at 8:10
pm after sunset. The horizon had extensive patchy clouds which later obstructed the cresent's view after
a span of about 12 minuetes.

This weekend at 'Cactus Flats', our dark sky site in Northern Colorado (Ft. Collins), a group of us out for a star party, sited the crescent moon just after sunset, by naked eye, binoculars and photographed at 8:00pm M.D.T. , when it was 20 hrs 20 mins. from new.

Hilal was very easy to see, and became easier and easier, even through
some thin clouds. Hilal led me to Mercury before that planet set.
