March 3, 2003 (Monday):

In Kuwait, Monday, 3 march 2003, I could not sight the crescent even with binocular. The western sky was so cloudy that I could not see the sun 25 minutes before its actual sunset.

I tried to see the hilaal on the eve of 3 March (after 29th day of Zul-Hijjah). The weather was cloudy, the humidity was high. It was impossible to see even the shafaq (redness). The hilaal was NOT sighted. So Zul-Hijjah is 30 days this year insha Allah.

The Hilaal for Muharram was not sighted this evening anywhere in S. Africa. The 1st will be Wednesday.

We had a cloudy sky here in Logan, UT; a friend of mine and I drove 100 miles to the south, locating a semi clear patch where the moon was supposed to be. We scanned the the area with no success!

I tried to see the Crescent here in San Jose. Despite good weather and mostly Clear sky except clouds on Lower Horizon, I have NOT been able to see any Crescent.

March 4, 2003 (Tuesday):

Today, March 4, just now that is Dubai time 6:35pm I sighted the moon; very dul difficult to see. Later, it started going down but still very dull; surly it is the first cresent of the month.

In Kuwait Tuesday, 4 MARCH 2003 I sighted the crescent. The sun disappeared behind haze 5:40pm while local sunset was at 5:50pm. First sighting with binocular at 5:54pm, and first sighting with naked eyes at 6:04pm.

I am happy to let you know that I was able to sight the new crescent quite easily this evening of Tuesday, March 4, 2003, with naked eyes, and thus Insha Allah, tomorrow wednesday will be the first day of Muharram A.H. 1424, here in Kenya.

Moon was sighted outside Damascus at 5:37pm, Tuesday (March 4), altitude ~14 degree with Partly cloudy sky. It was sighted by my nine year old son and myself.
