Moonsighting for Rabi-al-Awwal 1424
May 1, 2003 (Thursday): It was impossible to see the moon today anywhere in the world. It was not seen. Javad Torabinejad from Logan, Utah (ICOP member) reported: This evening (Thursday, May 1), I attempted sighting the very young moon in Logan, UT with no success. The western horizon was somewhat cloudy, I tried sighting the moon in clear patches but I was unable seenig the moon. Khoda-hafez.
May 2, 2003 (Friday): Hussain Khushaish from Kuwait reported: In Kuwait on Friday 2 may 2003 we tried to sight the crescent but we could not because it was cloudy in the western sky that we could not even see the sun disk 30 minutes before sunset. Rashid Motala from South Africa (ICOP member) reported: The moon of R. Awwal was not sighted this evening, Friday, May 2, although there were clear skies in some parts of the country. Muhammad Hafiz from Opa Locka, Florida (ICOP member) reporetd: Due to extensive rainy clouds on the horizon and thunder storm, New Crescent observation on Friday, May 2nd, 2003 in Opa Locka Florida, USA was not seen. Inshallah, the Hilal will be seen in other parts of North America, South America and the Caribbean. Khalid Shaukat (ICOP member) reported from Vancouver, B.C., Canada: I saw the moon on Friday, May 2 from the glass windows of Madina Masjid in Vancouver along with 15 other Muslims at 9:03pm. It was an easy sighting. |
