Moonsighting for Rabi-at-Thani 1424
May 31, 2003 (Saturday): Muhammad Hafiz from Opa Locka, Florida (ICOP member) reporetd: I tried to observe the New Crescent by naked eyes on Saturday, May 31st, 2003 in Opa Locka, Florida, USA. The skies were clear but no Crescent was seen. This finding supports the calculation since no optical aid was used for observation. Javad Torabinejad from North Logan, Utah (ICOP member) reported: This evening (Saturday, May 31st), one of my friends and I went to sight the moon in North Logan, UT. It was at 9:20 p.m. that my friend sighted the moon, using a pair of binoculars; he could see it for about 2 min after when the very thin and yellowish color moon (horns on 3 and 7 O'clock; 292 degrees on compass) disappeared behind the clouds in the western horizon. Although I was also using a pair of binoculars, I could not sight the moon. Paul Burnham from Lomita, CA reported: I successfully observed the new moon from the Northern Mojave Desert at 20:26 pacific daylight time using 15X70 binoculars. Your visibility predictions still hold up well.
June 1, 2003 (Sunday): Muhammad Hafiz from Opa Locka, Florida (ICOP member) reporetd: On Sunday, June 1st, 2003 the New Crescent was seen at 8:25 PM in Opa Lock, Florida, USA. The New Crescent was to the left of the setted sun and the horns were pointing at a 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock position. Again, this finding corresponds to the calculation. Javad Torabinejad from Logan, Utah (ICOP member) reported: Tonight, June 1, a very easy moon was sighted here in Logan, UT. |
