We at Karachi University Observatory, started tracking the Moon at 17:00 PST (one hour nine minutes before Sun set) when the Right Ascension and Declination of Moon were (20 Hr. 53 Min.) and (-23 deg. 04 min.) through our 6 Inch Code’ Refractor Telescope. At this point of time the Moons altitude was around 18 deg 23 min..

At the local Sun set (18:09 PST) the altitude of Moon was supposed to be 5 deg 23 min. and Moon’s age was around 16 hours. However till the local Moon set (18:43 PST) we could NOT see the Crescent Moon at any time during our tracking effort.

We set out 6 Inch Code’ Refractor Telescope to Moon’s coordinates (R. A. 21 Hr. 52 Min., Dec. -18 deg. 39 min) at 17:00 PST and the CRESCENT MOON WAS SEEN IN OUR FIELD OF VIEW IMMEDIATELY, one hour and 9 minutes before local Sun set. The dimly illuminated crescent was markedly differentiable from rest of the bright field of view. It seemed that if we had tried the crescent could have been seen earlier.
