The moon has been sighted from off our shores here in Barbados on Oct 15.. First sighting being approx. 5:41 pm which is about 1 min before maghrib Adhan. It was about 35-40 degrees high off the South West horizon and could be seen very clearly although there was a slight haze which we normally get this year in this part of the caribbean because of Sahara dust in the atmosphere reaching this area .

Based on this Observation I would venture to say I could see why we were unable to see the moon on Thursday seeing how thin the moon was and the earliest time we were able to see it and the direction we had to look in would have certainly been a factor meaning we had to look towards the south west and then also the elevation would have also cause some difficulty beause it would have been to close to the horizon as expected.
