Hussain Khushaish (Moonsighting.com member) from Kuwait reported: Not Seen
In Kuwait on Sunday, 12 Dec 2004 I could not see the crescent. It was cloudy, hazy and dusty.
But on Sat, 11 Dec 2004, I could see the morning waning crescent with binocular only from 6:24~6:28 local time. The moon rise was at 5:41 & the sunrise was at 6:32(lag =-51 minutes). Moon age was around minus 22 hours, Elong =12.5 deg, Alt=7.27 deg. It took a long time to spot the crescent because there was a thick black cloud up to 7 deg and above it; the eastren sky was very clear. My friends could not see it.

a pair of (7x50) binoculars to scan the horizon but I was unable to sight the moon.

Gary Peterson (Moonsighting.com member) from Mesa Arizona reported: Unsure
I live in Mesa, Arizona and today I tried to see the young moon with binoculars. Sunset was at 5:20 PM MST and moonset was at 6:00 PM MST producing a lag time of 40 minutes. New moon was at 6:30 PM MST yesterday. When I looked I thought I might have seen the moon but was not sure. I could not keep it in sight to see if it was moving in the right direction as it went down. The horns did see to be pointing in the right direction. The moon was five degrees farther south than the sun which would have made any sighting rather difficult this far north. The moon was near perigee which would help.

Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (Moonsighting.com Member) from Oxford, UK, reported: Not Seen
On December 13, 2004 (Monday) Negative sighting. We tried to perform moonspotting at the end of the 29th day of the preceding lunar month. However, at the usual site, there were two of us who could not sight the moon of Dhu l-Qa'da because the horizon was very cloudy [ghaym]. It had been already determined beforehand that the difference in setting times between the sun and the moon over the local horizon was approximately 1 hour and 3 minutes. We waited until its setting and prayed Maghrib there. I called another Muwaqqit from one of the Indonesian madrasas who confirmed that there, at Kediri, East Java, they had indeed spotted the new moon after Maghrib. This is sufficient to establish the Dhu l-Qa'da moon for us in the UK for tomorrow (the 14th of December) by default following the general rule in fiqh: whenever the crescent is sighted during the night in question in the East, its sighting in the West follows, but not the other way around.
