Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (MCW Member) from Oxford, UK reported: Seen with binoculars only
Sighted using optical aid only. At the end of the 29th day of of the preceeding lunar month (Tuesday, 7th June) at a new moonsighting site at the top of a mosque's minaret, a group of us could not sight the expected crescent with the naked eye. However, using a pair of binoculars, we sighted what could be a very faint crescent at 21:40. It was low on the horizon at an altitude of 6 degrees and its position was almost to the East of Venus. We waited until moonset to try and get a positive sighting with the naked eye but it was very difficult and not possible. By the time of 'Isha', there were no reports to our knowledge of any sighting from the East and we receive news instead that observers in Morocco could not sight the moon. We will therefore be completing [istikmal] 30 days for the month of Rabi' al-Akhir, and so the 1st day of Jumada al-Ula in the UK should be on Thursday the 9th of June.

HiMY SYeD (MCW member) from Fremont, California reported: Seen
The moon was easily seen with the naked eye from Fremont California tonight. Mahgrib locally began at 8:27 pm PDT.
By 8:40 pm, I was looking for the new crescent moon. Due to the cloud cover just above the horizon I was afraid that it would not be possible to sight the moon. After five minutes of searching I spotted the tiny thin hilal with points at 3 o'clock and 7 o'clock. The crescent was very high in the sky in a north direction. It was in the clear inbetween two bands of clouds.
Mary Singer (MCW member) from Spokane, WA reported: Not Seen
