The Hilaal of RABI'UL AWWAL 1426 has not been sighted on Saturday 9 April 2005 anywhere in Australia, therefore moon-sighting committee of Australia has declared the month of RABI'UL AWWAL will start from Monday 11th April, 2005.

In Kuwait on Sat 9 Apr 2005 I could not sight the crescent even with 20*60 binocular. The western horizon was hazy upto 10 degrees so that the sun disc disappeared 10 minutes before its local sunset which was 18:11.

Sighting could not be carried out. On our 29th day of Safar (Saturday, 9th April), I was unfortunately unavailable to perform moonsighting properly. However, the atmospheric conditions were poor and it was cloudy in Oxford that evening. I received news that the new crescent was sighted after Maghrib in the Maghrib (Morocco). This news is sufficient to establish [thubut] the new month for us in the UK so that Sunday, the 10th of March, is the 1st of Rabi' al-Awwal.

I saw the new moon Saturday evening at 8:54PM EDT in Detroit with the naked eye. It was low in the Northwestern sky. Shortly thereafter, it was no longer visible.

The new moon crescent was clearly sighted by two witnesses in Houston, Texas, at 8:13 p.m. by two witnesses, and in Jacksonville, Texas, by four witnesses.

My wife and I observed new moon from Chino Valley, Arizona this evening. It came into view at 1938 MST once it cleared a very slow moving and slowly dissipating cloud bank.

The thin crescent of Rabi-al-Awwal moon was easily seen here in Fremont, California with the naked eye at 8:03 pm PDT. It took a few minutes to spot as the moon was not in its 'usual' spot in the evening sky. I had grown accustomed to looking in one direction, tonight it was north of that location on the horizon compared with the past few months.

I sighted the moon of Rabi ul-Awwal at about 8:10pm shortly after maghrib in the area of the sunset. The right tip was at 4 o'clock and the left tip was at 8 o'clock. My wife (Fatima Sharaaz) and kids (Yaseen Khan) also viewed it along with Julie Minot.

I sighted the hilal for the blessed month of Rabi'ul Awwal
with my naked eyes in San Jose, California at around 8:25 PST. The hilal was further east than sightings in previous months. The horns of the crescent were pointing more upward than westward. It was a thin crescent but clearly visible in the clear sky.

The new lunar crescent was sighted from Spokane, WA on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 20:06 PDT. Local sunset was 19:32.
Nice crescent easily seen, both naked eye and binoculars about 10 to 12 degrees above western horizon.

I could not see R. Awwal cresent from Maghrib to Isyak on Saturday, 9th April, but after Maghrib on Sunday, 10th April 2005, my friends and I saw it. So, 1st R.Awwal is on Monday, 11th April 2005.
