Okaloosa Island, Florida: Seen Around 20:12 CDT, on Saturday, 27 May 2006, I was finally able to spot the very thin
Hilaal of Jumaadaa-l-oola 1427 using some small 8x binoculars. Due to increasing cloud cover in the west which began just prior to sunset (19:41 CDT), the
Hilaal was only intermittently visible. Sighting under these conditions was possible only with binoculars, not with the naked eye. Therefore, the first day of Jumaada-al-oola 1427 will be Sunday, 28 May 2006 for us in this part of Florida. See photo.

I am pleased to report that the crescent moon was sighted from Chino Valley, AZ this evening of May 27. Initial sighting was with binoculars at 7:48 PM MST. Visual sighting followed at 8:05 PM although it wasn't until 8:15 that I could reliably relocate it visually without reference to the binocular's alignment. This was an extremely thin crescent, extending from the 4 o'clock to the 7 o'clock position. It appeared to be interrupted at about the 5 O'clock, probably due so some lunar surface feature.
Hadi Jaafar (MCW member), Ph.D. from Fort Collins, Colorado: Seen
