April 28, 2006 (Friday):
Hamza Rijal, (MCW member), from Island of Zanzibar, Africa: Not Seen
On April 28 was 29th of Rabil-Awal. As usual I engaged on searching for the crescent; it was too much haze clouds. I failed to observe and we in Zanzibar complete 30 days. So, 30th of April shall be 1st of Rabiul-Thani.
Muhammed Yasin Qamardeen (MCW member) from Lagos, Nigeria: Not Seen
There are sort of cloud cover at the western sky, so the new crescent is not visible
Hilal of Rabiul Thanni was not sighted by me, nor any of our observers across Nigeria due to heavy clouds as reported. Locations are Abuja, Ilorin, Damaturu in Yobe stae, Bauchi city
Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (MCW member) from Oxford, UK: Not Seen
(due to overcast)
Negative sighting. After Maghrib prayers, the two of us attempted a
sighting at the end of the 29th day of the preceeding lunar month (Friday,
28 April 2006). As the new moon is expected to be easily visible today
given that the minimum conditions for sighting visibility [shurut imkan
al-ru'ya] are met, and especially since it is expected to be above the
horizon at 11 degrees, the sighting was not attempted at the usual site.
Unfortunately, the horizon was overcast [ghaym] and no sighting was
possible as a result. Instead, we received news from Morocco that the new
crescent was sighted and that the authority there has declared the next day
to be the first of the new month. This news is sufficient for us to
establish the new month [thubut al-hilal] of Rabi' al-Thani in the UK, so
that tomorrow, Saturday, the 29th of April is the first day of the new
lunar month and not the 30th of Rabi' I, by default, following the rule in
Fiqh: whenever the crescent is sighted during the night in question
anywhere in the East, its sighting follows without doubt in the West, but
not the other way round.
Javad Torabinejad (MCW member) from Blacksburg, Virginia: Seen

28 April 2006. I photographed the 2.1% phase crescent from 20:52 until 21:02 EDT.
Therefore, April 29, 2006 will be 1 Rabi` II 1427 for us here in Columbia, South Carolina.

I want to let know that I saw the moon with the naked eye at 7:25 MST from Tempe, AZ.
It was quite easy to see and the horns are nearly pointing straight up.
Paul Burnham (MCW member) from Chino Valley, Arizona: Seen
I am pleased to report that the crescent moon was observed from Chino Valley, Arizona this evening of April 28. It was initially seen with the naked eye at 1938 MST. Sky condition was amazingly clear, two jet liners crossing the observation zone earlier were located purely by reflected sunlight on their polished metal, no contrails being visible. The Crescent appeared to extend from approximately the 3:00 to 8:30 position. The limits of the illuminated zone were indefinite due to the full lunar disc being visible in the clear air.
Mary Singer (MCW member) from Spokane, Washington State: Seen
The lunar crescent was SEEN from Spokane, Washington. Beautiful
warm evening, very clear, Sunset local time was 7:58 PDT.
We were out for dinner, but I was able to go outside and see the new
crescent with binoculars and then without binoculars at 8:35 pm, PDT.
Horns appeared to be 3:00 and almost 8:00.
