Eid on 4 Different Days
A.H. NAZEER AHMED
Masha Allah! In 65 countries all over the world from the East to the West many Muslims fasted on the Arafath day, and Hajis stood on the Arafath grounds (on 3rd October 2014) and celebrated their Eid-ul-Adha on the right day, 4th october 2014. Only some ignorant foolish countries distorted the truth and celebrated their Eid on four different days (October,4,5,6,7, 2014). Many fasted on the Eid day committing Ziyadathun fil-Kufr (excess in Kufr), which Allah and His Rasool have strictly prohibited. What a foolish act? And so many of the so-called Ulamaa' were involved in it. Ulamaa' are the people who are supposed to lead others to the truth and piety but in fact, they are mocking at Allah (swt)’s unique flawless calendar againts the Quran and Hadees.
Quran - 36:39 talks about Urjoonul Qadeem, which is the last phase of the moon for the lunar month, and it comes out at Fajr time in the eastern sky, and when it is seen then the next day would be the conjunction day, and the next to that would be the 1st of the next lunar month. Most people are confused as to these facts and don’t even know about the Urjoonil Qadeem.
And the Moon,- We have measured (stages) for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk (urjoonil Qadeem). Al-Quran – 36:39
Allah (swt) commands us in Qur'an 2:185, "Yas'aloonaka 'unil aillah qul hiya mawqeetu linnnasi wal-hajj". They ask you about the increasing and decreasing phases of the moon; tell them they are dates for mankind and for determining hajj. This verse commands us to observe the phases of the moon, not just the new moon. Neither Rasool(s.a.w) nor the Sahabas went on the eve of the Eid trying to look for the Crescent moon, they abided by Allah (swt) and were observing the phases of the moon every day because they clearly understood the commandments of Allah. By observing the moon and seeing the full moon day they knew which month would have 29 days or 30 days. Why we do not have any history of Rasool (s.a.w) or the Sahabas sitting for I'tikaf for 11 days or 9 days – whether the month had 29 days or 30 days they began their I'tikaf and sat exactly 10 days; they never had any confusion in this matter.
But today we are having a great dilemma in having the same date on four different days in different parts of one country (India). It is a pathetic and a sad situation. Allah (swt) has given us a unique, precise and an accurate calendar, far more accurate, and precise than any other calendar in the world, and we are mocking at Allah’s supreme calendar. We pray Jummah weekly throughout the world and we know for sure that within 24 hours, the whole world completes the Jummah. Same way Eid should be performed on a single day within 24 hours. People should use their simple reasoning (in other words, common sense) sense to understand that the whole world 24 hour period is a single day period, and it cannot consist of different days and different dates within this 24-hour period.
The majority of the Sahabas were illiterates, but they were strict in observing the commandments of Allah (swt). As a result, they were able to understand it in a crystal-clear manner, the common sense part of the Deen. Because we are not observing this, we are in such a big dilemma and we are confusing simple matters and making it a great issue which could easily be solved with a little clear thinking. For example, Quran: (6:159; 3:105; 3:102):
As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou (Oh! Muhammed) hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did. Qur'an – 6:159
Be not like those who are divided amongst themselves and fall into disputations after receiving Clear Signs: For them is a dreadful penalty, Qur'an – 3:105
Ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not (other than a Muslim) except in a state of Islam. Qur'an – 3:102
Allah(s.w.t) has made this a very easy task by giving us the Rasool, Quran, and Hadees but Satan complicates it and corrupts and pervert it and makes it difficult for us to understand it.
May Allah help us to UNITE as a single group “MUSLIMS” and show the world as to what a unique and a powerful religion Islam is (aameen, aameen, aameen, valhamdu lillahi Rabbil Aalameen).
